CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns will start Jason Pinkston at right guard, Chris Owens at right cornerback and rookie Josh Aubrey at strong safety in tonight’s Great Lakes Classic preseason game against the Detroit Lions at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Pinkston will start in place of Shawn Lauvao, who suffered an ankle injury in practice earlier in training camp, while Aubrey will go for T.J. Ward. Ward has been working his way back from a hamstring injury.

Owens earned the start over Buster Skrine, whom he has been competing with in training camp for the Browns’ second starting cornerback spot.

The Browns have deactivated Ward, Lauvao, punter T.J. Conley, wide receivers Jordan Norwood and David Nelson, defensive backs Leon McFadden and Jamoris Slaughter, fullback Brock Bolen, offensive linemen Ryan Miller, Oniel Cousins and Chris Faulk and defensive lineman Hall Davis for tonight’s game against the Lions.

The Lions will be without safeties Louis Delmas and John Wendling, cornerbacks Chris Greenwood and Jonte Green, tight end Matt Veldman and wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

Patrick Edwards will start at wide receiver for Johnson, and former Brown Don Carey will go at free safety for Delmas.
