Football... it is fast paced, physical and takes 60 minutes to play the game. A lot can happen in 60 minutes and the Cleveland Browns challenge you to realize what YOU can do in 60 minutes.
The players exert themselves for 60 minutes on game day, but spend time preparing mentally, emotionally and physically each and every day. You don’t have to play football to play 60. By taking charge and dedicating 60 minutes of activity to something you love, you can be a part of the most active and healthy generation yet. What will you choose to do? Run, walk, jump rope, swim, dance, yard work? So, grab a friend or create your own personal challenge, set goals and you will be well on your way to joining the Browns Play 60 movement!
As a featured extension of the Play 60 movement, the Browns offer the Play 60 Challenge to local schools during the spring and fall. The Play 60 Challenge is a 6-week program designed to educate and motivate students grades 2nd – 8th to be active before, during and after the school day for at least 60 minutes a day. In partnership with American Heart Association, the goal of the program is to allow schools to create an environment that is conducive for physical activity. Over the course of the challenge, students log their minutes of activity for the opportunity to win fantastic prizes! The Cleveland Browns Play 60 Challenge is in association with University Hospitals, and American Dairy Association Mideast and Fuel Up to Play 60.

FitnessGram, released nationally in 1982 by The Cooper Institute, is now in its 9th edition. FitnessGram is the premier fitness assessment tool with an educational reporting system. It emphasizes health-related fitness for life by measuring three components 1) aerobic capacity; 2) body composition; and 3) muscular strength, endurance and flexibility. Results, based on age and gender, are available in a report card format that physical education teachers can use to educate families and students and encourage healthy behaviors. The FitnessGram was created to heighten the parental awareness of their children’s fitness levels by developing a realistic way for physical education teachers to assess and report the physical fitness levels of their students. In support of Play 60, the Browns and Cooper Institute work with local schools and teachers to register them for the FitnessGram assessment program.
Along with the Play 60 movement, the Cleveland Browns are proud supporters of Action for Healthy Kids. Mini ReCharge! is a youth fitness program packed with action and loaded with fun. In an effort to engage schools and organizations in the Play 60 movement, the Browns are proud to offer the Mini-ReCharge! kit, designed to get kids on their feet, and provides equipment needed for eight action-packed stations. The kit is easy to set up and can be adapted to a variety of spaces, time restraints and abilities.
There are many ways you and your children can join the Play 60 movement. You can get involved through school programs, contests and community events. The Cleveland Browns are committed to encourage children and their families to be and stay active. Through our Hometown Huddle project and Fitness Zone playground builds, the Browns are entrenched in an on-going process to create safe places to play so we will not accept any excuses—start now, PLAY 60!
